We sell used cars and we buy them. If you've got a car, truck or SUV you're done with, bring it to the lot at 2153-21320 Westminster Hwy. We'll look it over with you and tell you what we'd pay. You don't have to buy anything from us.
How It Works
1. Tell us about the car
Call (778) 829-6669, email info@luminaiauto.ca, or just drive in. Year, make, model, kilometres and anything that's wrong with it. No appointment needed, but calling ahead means less waiting.
2. We look it over
We check the car in person, take it for a short drive, pull the history and check the paperwork: that the registration is in your name, the VIN matches, and whether there's a lien on it.
3. You get an offer
We tell you the number and why. Take it or don't, no pressure either way. If you say yes, we do the paperwork on site and you choose cash or cheque.
What to Bring
- Vehicle registration in your name
- Government photo ID (BC driver's licence or BC ID)
- Every key and fob you have
- Service records, paper or digital
- If there's a loan: a current payout letter from the lender
- If a paid-off loan still shows on title: the lender's lien release letter
- Spare tire, jack and anything else that came with the car
- Registered to a business: business licence or incorporation papers and a letter showing who can sign
Not sure about a lien? Our lien search guide shows how to check.
What Affects the Offer
Year and kilometres
Newer with fewer km is worth more, but how it was driven matters too.
Condition
Body, paint, tires, interior, and how it runs. Tell us what's wrong up front and we'll work it into the number.
Service records
A car with its records is an easier car to sell again, so it's worth more to us.
History
Accidents and claims show up on the history report and change the number.
Demand
What people in the Lower Mainland are buying right now. A car that sells fast here is worth more to a dealer than one that sits.
Keys and extras
A missing key or missing spare costs money to replace, and that comes off.
Trade-In or Straight Sale
If you're buying one of our cars, trading yours in usually means less tax on the new one, because in BC the tax is worked out on the price after the trade-in. Our trade-in tax savings page shows the math and how trade-in value is worked out covers the appraisal. If you're not buying, we'll still buy your car outright. Thinking about selling privately instead? Private sale vs dealer lays out both sides honestly, and selling privately in BC walks through it. Need a loan on the next car? See financing and how car financing works.
Selling a Car With a Loan on It
You can sell a car that still has a loan. Bring a current payout letter. The loan gets paid out as part of the sale. If our offer is more than you owe, the difference is yours. If it's less, you cover the gap, or roll it into a trade if you're buying from us. More on this in selling a car that still has a loan.

Questions About Selling to Us
Do I have to buy a car from you to sell you mine?
No. We buy cars outright too. A trade-in is only an option if you want one.
Do I need an appointment?
No. Come in any day between 11 and 6. Calling (778) 829-6669 first cuts the wait.
Can I sell a car that still has a loan?
Yes. Bring a current payout letter from your lender. The loan is paid out as part of the sale.
How do I get paid?
By cash or cheque, your choice.
Will you buy a car that needs work?
We look at every car on its own. Tell us what's wrong with it and we'll factor it into the offer. Some cars we'll pass on, and we'll tell you straight.
The car isn't in my name. Can I still sell it?
The registered owner has to sign. If they can't come in, bring a signed, notarized authorization and a copy of their ID. For a company car, bring the business papers and a signing authority letter.
Is a trade-in worth more than selling to you outright?
The offer for the car is worked out the same way. The difference is tax: a trade-in usually lowers the tax on the car you buy. See trade-in tax savings.
